YMCAs have been teaching people to swim for more than a century. In YMCA aquatics programs, children learn to be safe around water and they feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning something new. Youth progressive swimming is the YMCA’s third most widely offered program nationwide. It uses a problem-solving, guided-discovery teaching approach in a positive, caring environment. Kids can develop lifelong skills that can help them stay healthy.

Learning to swim at the YMCA is more than just stroke development. Children are taught in small groups with others of their own age and skill level to facilitate the students’ socialization skills. Instructors use a child-centered approach which offers more active involvement and a better understanding of swimming, thus more learning and more fun.

2010 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign

strongkids2 The YMCA of Florida’s Emerald Coast is the leader in programs that improve quality of life and nurture the health and wellness of spirit, mind, and body. That is why our programs and services teach people of all ages the healthy benefits of a healthy lifestyle. From children to families and seniors, we have activities for everyone, rewarding all with self-confidence and a positive outlook on life.

The YMCA of Florida’s Emerald Coast is committed to making quality programs and facilities available to everyone, regardless of their inability to pay.  While we have strived to keep program fees affordable by subsidizing some for the real cost, we know that during difficult times some individuals and families will need financial assistance. We are able to ensure that no one is turned away based on their inability to pay through our Strong Kids Campaign.

In addition, the 2010 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign allows us to reach out into the neighborhood to offer valuable programs to those who need them the most.

But we can’t do it alone!  Your contribution to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign ensures that many nearby children unable to pay are included in programs that will teach them the values that will positively impact their lives in the community we all live in. We ask that you please give generously so that more kids and families in our community can share the YMCA experience.
